A delivery worker is still fighting for his life Wednesday morning after a hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn struck him on Tuesday night.
According to police sources, the collision occurred around 7:35 p.m. on Oct. 20 in front of the Fresh Health Food Emporium at 594 Nostrand Ave. in Crown Heights.
Based on a preliminary investigation, police said the driver of a white 2026 Hyundai Elantra was traveling southbound in the center lane on Nostrand Avenue when they attempted to merge into the right lane.
As the driver changed lanes, cops said, they struck a 33-year-old DoorDasher operating an e-bike. The delivery worker was sent hurtling from his bike and into the roadway, where he suffered what officials are describing as severe head trauma. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Hyundai did not stop and instead fled the scene; they remain at large as of press time Wednesday morning. Officers from the 77th Precinct responded to the incident. EMS rushed him to Kings County Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
